Nairobi & Kisumu, Kenya
An unstable political climate, tribal wars and atrocities, rampant poverty, and AIDS continue to overwhelm and devastate Kenya, but we persist with our programs to provide spiritual and material assistance to countless families in need. The three Dominican communities in Kenya, which also serve the neighboring countries of Uganda, Tanzania, and Sudan, are the Novitiate Priory of St. Martin de Porres in Kisumu; our student house for young friars-in-studies in Karen; and St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Nairobi. We also minister at one of the campuses of Nairobi University and a primary and secondary parochial school community on the outskirts of the city. We seek to bring our unique Dominican traditions of preaching, teaching and liturgy to all of these communities and ministries.
