Fr. Dominic was first introduced to the Dominicans in high school in Corvallis, Oregon, where he grew up with his brother and two sisters. While attending the University of Oregon, where Dominican friars staff the Newman Center (Catholic campus ministry), he learned more about the Order and was especially drawn to its integral components of communal life and prayer.
Father majored in Spanish and International Studies with a focus on Latin America, and then, after completing further studies in Philosophy and Theology and eight years of initial formation, he was ordained a Dominican priest in 2008. His interests range from cooking and sculpting, to biking and running, rock climbing and swimming.
Father is currently ministering at our mission in Mexicali, where he is putting his education in Spanish and Latin American Studies to good use. He says that the sacrifices God asks of him, such as being far away from his family and ministering in one of the world’'s poorest communities, are far outweighed by God'’s gifts: “"Vale la pena." His life is made very rich, he says, by the opportunities he has to practice charity with his beloved fellow Dominicans.
